Teaching English in Czech Republic

Job Overview:

The Czech Republic has a rich Christian heritage, but today it is very secular and atheistic. Come and join us in beautiful South Bohemia - gain valuable experience teaching and serving in an area where most people have no opportunities to hear the Gospel. This relationship-building would help to support a new church planting initiative in the southwest area of the historical town of České Budějovice.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Teaching adult classes 2-3 evenings/week at our English Classes for Czechs (ECC) in small group settings

  • Other teaching possibilities in schools, with young people or children, or at English Camp (if summer internship)

  • Organizing special events for the students

  • Serving with our team in the areas of office work, practical work, and possible activities related to the church plant or a local church

  • Joining in with other team activities (devotions, prayer meetings, etc.)

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Ability to teach English in a creative fashion that encourages conversation

  • You must be able to plan and prepare your own lessons

  • TESL certificate is encouraged but not required

Additional Info:

  • All interns must formally accept and abide by OM USA’s Statement of Faith for the duration of the internship

  • International internships are not paid positions and all financial needs should be covered with personal support

  • Home-stay with a national is dependent on circumstances

  • Pre-Field training happens through on-line materials and Skype sessions with coaches and other interns for a few weeks leading up departure date. Includes debriefing with coaches on return

  • Dates and duration of internships are flexible, should be worked out with the team

Qualifications of on-field supervisor:

  • Bachelor's in Intercultural and Biblical Studies

  • Seven years of ministry and Christian leadership

Accreditation:

  • Degree Credit available upon the approval of your university/college supervisors
