Language and Cultural Training Center Business Experience in North Africa

Job Overview:

Bring your business skills to help with a Language and Cultural Center in North Africa – serving tourists, expats, university students and locals. Get valuable international business experience while building relationships and sharing your faith.

Responsibilities and Duties:

The business is a training center for language and culture – To foreigners they offer Arabic classes, French classes, cultural workshops, cultural training and customized travel services as well as consulting. For locals, they offer cultural workshops in English as well as soft skills training initially and expand the services depending on what people are willing to pay for.

  • You would be involved in a B4T (Business for Transformation) project

  • Participation in our regular team meetings and field gatherings (retreat or team emphasis days).

  • You would be expected to get involved in building relationships with locals, including university students, and intentionally sharing the gospel.

  • Opportunity to travel around the country to get exposure to other ministries in their field.

  • During the first 2 weeks, you would be learning the local language and getting some orientation.

  • Intercultural Studies interns could help in running and developing the cultural programs.  

  • Organize service opportunities with local NGOs.

Proposed weekly Schedule:

  • Monday-Friday - 9am-5pm are business hours

  • Weekends are free.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Any of the following background, skills or education:

    • Business classes and/or background

    • Has a heart for B4T and wants to serve and learn

    • Social Media Marketing

    • Graphic Design

    • Teaching/Training (for English/Cultural workshops)

    • Business Development

    • Tourism

Additional Info:

  • All interns must formally accept and abide by OM USA’s Statement of Faith for the duration of the internship.

  • International internships are not paid positions and all financial needs should be covered with personal support.

    • $200 additional cost for survival Arabic classes, plus airfare, emergency medical insurance and possible visa and immunizations *According to current currency exchange rates and your estimated time commitment. To be adjusted to actual dates of internship and actual exchange rates at the time of internship.

  • Pre-Field training happens through on-line materials and Skype sessions with coaches and other interns for a few weeks leading up departure date. Includes debriefing with coaches on return.

  • Dates and duration of internships are flexible (Ideal ranges would be May-July, Sept-Oct, Jan-Mar)

  • Home-stay with a national is dependent on circumstances.

Qualifications of on-field supervisor:

  • Accountant/Business Owner,

  • Diploma in Adult Training and Development

  • Certificate in Coaching

  • Directed a Language School in this country (7 years)

  • Trainer for field’s short term and 1-2 Year Program participants (5 years)

Accreditation:

  • Degree Credit available upon the approval of your university/college supervisors.
