Communications in Zimbabwe

Job Overview:

Use your communications skills in Africa! Participate in the team ministries in Zimbabwe and help them tell their stories through writing, photography, and videography. You might also train national team members with the skills you bring!

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Participation in team events as an active member of the team, but specifically focusing on taking photos/videos of events and ministries and writing stories for OM’s Intranet or newsletters

  • Assist with writing some reports for project proposals

  • Travel to key events and outreaches to record happenings with the team

  • Assist OM Zimbabwe team members to grow in communication/photography skills that you are proficient in

  • Participate in Team devotions on Thursday mornings and Team prayer on Friday mornings

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Any combination of the following, but not necessarily all:

    • Photography

    • Videography

    • Story writing

    • Report writing

    • Computer competence

    • Graphic design for web or print.

Additional Info:

  • All interns must formally accept and abide by OM USA’s Statement of Faith for the duration of the internship.

  • International internships are not paid positions and all financial needs should be covered with personal support.

  • Home-stay with a national is dependent on circumstances.

  • Pre-Field training happens through on-line materials and Skype sessions with coaches and other interns for a few weeks leading up departure date. Includes debriefing with coaches on return.

  • Dates and duration of internships are flexible, should be worked out with the team.

Qualifications of on-field supervisor:

In Zimbabwe there are two supervisors:

  • The field leader is experienced in

    • Leadership

    • Planning

    • Mentoring

    • Master’s Degree in Development (include proposal and report writing)

  • The Communication person is currently studying Journalism and has been in the Communications role for three years.


  • Degree Credit available upon the approval of your university/college supervisors.
