Aquaponic Farming in Jordan
Along with the local OM team, you will be meeting the physical needs of local Muslims through aquaponics farming. As you learn, manage, and help expand the aquaponics greenhouse system, you will be able to love and be a neighbor to many wonderful people living in Amman, Jordan.
Responsibilities and Duties:
Assist the team in the ongoing maintenance of the current aquaponics greenhouse system
Learn the basics of aquaponics farming
Be involved in troubleshooting, planning, and day- to-day chores around the greenhouse (some of it will involving getting dirty)
Friendships with local hotel staff and neighbors
Be involved with the team and wider field in prayer gatherings and training events, when appropriate
Proposed weekly Schedule:
Sunday-Thursday - full day work at the greenhouse site under direct supervision of OM project staff
Friday - off day
Saturday - out in the city with friends and possibility for work-related outings and scouting trips
Qualifications and Skills:
Any of the following background, skills or education:
All interns must formally accept and abide by OM USA’s Statement of Faith for the duration of the internship.
International internships are not paid positions and all financial needs should be covered with personal support.
Home-stay with a national is dependent on circumstances.
Pre-Field training happens through on-line materials and Skype sessions with coaches and other interns for a few weeks leading up departure date. Includes debriefing with coaches on return.
Dates and duration of internships are flexible, should be worked out with the team.
Qualifications of on-field supervisor:
Field experience 8+ years,
project director, 2 years,
Bachelors of Environmental Biology (2008),
extensive experience in leadership on the Near East field
Degree Credit available upon the approval of your university/college supervisors.
